How to join the Academy

Joining as a beginner

You can attend the first two weeks of lessons on a trial basis without any charge or obligation.

If you wish to continue after this trial period, all you need do is:

Download this form, and hand it in to Sensei at your next lesson; and
Download one of the bank standing order mandate plans below and send it to your bank.
Join the English Goju Ryu Karate Association (EGKA). See the EGKA section below.

Academy only membership rates

All members are requested to pay by standing order. We do not accept cash payments on the night.

Please choose one of the following plan options:

One lesson a week: £40.00 per month Download standing order mandate here.
All evening lessons: £60.00 per month Download standing order mandate here.

Academy membership at these rates entitles you to use the Sir David English changing rooms, sauna and steam room.

Academy and Sir David English Sports Centre Gym membership rates

We wish to encourage you to improve your own level of personal fitness by subscribing to one of the Sir David English Sports Centre’s gym membership options. If you are an existing gym member, or you take up one of their membership schemes we shall reduce your BKA membership by £10 a month.

Cancellation of your Academy membership

We do not believe in binding contracts with penalty cancelation notices. You can leave the Academy and cancel your subscription at any time and without notice.

EGKA Membership

We remind all graded students that it is a condition of their continuing membership with the Academy, that they also maintain their membership of the EGKA. Joining the EGKA not only allows you to attend all of their regional and national events, it also provides you with third party accident and personal injury insurance cover while you are training with us under instructor supervision.
