Dec 2008 Grading Results
Congratulations to Paul Molyneux, who must have been the only person who didn't believe he would successfully pass his grading for Sandan. He put in a relentlessly inspiring performance and very deservedly won his new grade with flying colours.
For those of you know him, we are also pleased to report that Jason Gould passed his Nidan grading at the same time.
The weekend training at 12 Quays, Woodchurch was an enjoyable and well attended event, despite a multitude of Santas participating in the Liverpool Santa Dash race doing their level best to trap so many of us in our hotels early on Sunday morning. Try getting up nursing a hangover from the night before, rushing out of your hotel to make the Dojo, only to be confronted with 6,000 red silk Santa outfits running around you, and a smiling policeman (always a bad sign) wearing a red floppy hat (surreal) advising us we only had five minutes to get out of the area before they closed the exit roads (too much when you didn't have a clue where you were going in the first place).
Including Sensei, nine of us went up to Liverpool to support Paul, and we not only enjoyed some excellent training sessions, but we also joined a party of forty for a pleasant meal out in Liverpool's Chinatown as well.
Amongst the fifty candidates that did pass this time around, the other people you may know include:
Sandan - John Birch and Sandra Brookfield
Yondan - Tony Dempsey, Joe Hearty, Mark Leyland, and Steve Walley.
